UDC CREATIVE SHORT'09
CALL FOR ENTRIES
Students of high school, university or its equivalent in any area of knowledge: you are invited to participate in the Sixth Short Film Contest "Corto Creativo UDC'09" which shall be screened at local cinemas (part of an international movie theater chain) in Tijuana, Baja CALIFORNIA, MEXICO 28, 29 and May 30 2009, 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 PM
Filmmakers and video professionals who want to showcase their short films, can send their submissions, but will not participate in the contest.
The pre-selection of material will take into consideration only the shorts that, in addition to exhibiting a clear narrative situation, have been produced after December 31st . 2006.
GENERAL RULES:
1 .- We accept short fiction of any genre (Horror, thriller, comedy, action etc). Under no circumstance shall we accept the following categories: documentary, music video, news reporting, experimental video and video installation.
2 .- The date of completion should not be prior to the 1st. of January 2007. Registered submission completed before the 1st of January 2007 are subject to available space in the exhibition.
3 .- The registration of the shorts can be done through e-mail sending the registration form to: jorge.camarillo@udc.com.mx or cortocreativo@udc.com.mx It can also be delivered in person or standard mail at UDCI Benítez University campus, located on Blvd Federico Benitez # 460 Colonia Los Españoles, Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. CP. CP. 22104). 22104). You must fill out a registration form for each individual submission.
4 .- There is no limit for registration of submissions
5 .- Submissions must be a maximum of 20 minutes in length. Submissions longer than 20 minutes shall be subject to available space in the exhibition.
6 .- The deadline for submissions of short films will be Monday April 5, 2009. If the submission is sent through a courier company, the postmark date of the courier company must be April 5th or an earlier date. All material postmarked after April 5th. shall be subject to available space in the exhibition.
7 .- Only submissions in Spanish language or subtitled in Spanish shall be accepted.
8 .- We accept submissions in any format of video or film, but for the contest and exhibition we require that you submit a copy in Mini-DV (NTSC SP) and two executable DVD copies.
9 .- In addition, participants are required to deliver a CD with the following information:
- Short Synopsis of submission (Maximum 300 words) in text file (Word or WordPad).
- 5 stills or video images (300 dpi) for the promotion of the submission.
- Bio or short CV of the principal filmmaker (Maximum 300 words) in text file (Word or WordPad).
- * A copy or scanned image of a student id card or a document certifying that the holder is a student at the completion of the film.. This is a requirement for the contest and does not apply for the exhibition.
- Copies or scanned image of an official identification with photo, can be a passport, ID card or official identification card, driver's license certified by the issuing country.
10 .- The filmmaker that obtains first place shall receive an award in kind later to be disclosed.
Jury:
A) The jury shall be composed of distinguished members from various universities, media and cultural centers in Tijuana, Baja California, with experience in audiovisual production.
B) The jury shall asses: The originality of the stories, creative implementation and use of cinematographic language
C) The jury reserves the right to deliver honorable mentions for the best submission in each genre, if it so considers.
D) The verdict of the jury is final and can declare the first place as void if there is no submission that combines creativity and narrative structure in film.
E) Festival Corto Creativo UDC does not investigate the origin of the stories narrated in the shorts. The filmmaker assumes responsibility for the content of his submission.
F) Participants and professionals that submit their short films, accept that "Corto Creativo UDC" can use their work to promote and broadcast the event inside and outside the country, also granting international broadcast rights, allowing us to use the material to be shown on national and international television, with the sole purpose of promoting the event. At no time shall "Corto Creativo UDC claim ownership of the audiovisual content of the material and it shall not be used for profit. This item does not grant us exclusive rights, so the authors have free use of their submissions.
